I thought this might be an interesting discussion piece…
If you were applying for the job you are doing for yourself, what would you expect an employer to ask you in an interview?
How many hours a week do you want?
How would you justify that raise at the performance review?
What do you offer most to your clients during a week?
How many hours a week does it take to get to those client sessions?
What activities are must do, but not must do for you (i.e. contract out) when your business could afford it?
How often would you meet with your manager (you) to discuss shortfalls or breakthroughs in performance?
What do you need to do deserve a promotion? (Why not?) We worked harder for trips, raises and job titles when we got t4’s, so why not now?
If you continue with your current performance this year, are those goals going to be realized?
If not, why not?
In your heart of hearts, is self-employment what you strove for, or where you ended up?
Based on your answer, are there changes you can make to fit your perfect role better?
Can we go, as a society, beyond being comfortably unhappy?
